approval

it came today.

from immigration.

what a nice thing to find after work on a dreary monday.

52 days.

we heard it could take up to 90 days.

were we surprised to see it? absolutely!

we only had our biometric fingerprints one week ago. i thought we would be lucky to have it in hand by thanksgiving.

the i-797 starts out like this, "the above application has been approved."

music to my ears.

and yes, i did make sure that all of our names were spelled correctly!

i quickly called our lifeline social worker. she was excited to share the joy and very surprised to see it come so quickly. she was telling me about another family in the same program that sent in their paperwork about a month before us and they have not received theirs yet. i feel bad for them, knowing how hard it is to wait for something completely out of your control.

i am sure that we will still hit lots of snags and hang-ups.

for now, i will rejoice and be thankful.
